FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Cleopatra's Needle, Adelphi Arches, London" is a captivating watercolour drawing by the renowned Irish artist, James Moore, created in the year 1881. The intricately detailed image showcases the ancient Egyptian obelisk, Cleopatra's Needle, standing proudly against the backdrop of the Adelphi Arches in London. The Adelphi Arches, a set of three triumphal arches, were built in the late 17th century to commemorate the victories of William III and Mary II. The arches were originally located at the end of the Strand, marking the entrance to the Adelphi Terrace. The obelisk, a gift from the Egyptian ruler, Ptolemy XII, to the British monarch, Queen Victoria, was erected nearby in 1878. Moore's drawing masterfully captures the grandeur of both structures. The Needle, with its intricate hieroglyphics and ornate base, stands tall and proud, its ancient history contrasting sharply with the modernity of the Adelphi Arches. The arches, with their ornate columns and intricate carvings, are depicted in exquisite detail, their grandeur enhanced by the reflection of the water in the foreground. The artist's use of watercolour on paper adds a sense of depth and texture to the image, bringing the scene to life. The drawing is a testament to Moore's exceptional artistic skills and his ability to capture the essence of a scene with remarkable precision and detail. The image is a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing the rich history and cultural diversity of London during the late 19th century. The juxtaposition of the ancient Egyptian obelisk and the modern Adelphi Arches serves as a reminder of the city's complex and intriguing past, and the enduring power of art to preserve and celebrate it.
