17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print showcases the intricately detailed exoskeleton of Calymene blumenbachii, an ancient trilobite belonging to the Phacopida order. Hailing from the Upper Silurian to Lower Devonian periods, approximately 425 million years ago, this trilobite was discovered within the Wenlock Limestone of Dudley, Worcestershire, England. The Calymene blumenbachii is a member of the Calymenidae family, and its well-preserved fossilized remains provide valuable insights into the morphology and anatomy of these fascinating prehistoric arthropods. Trilobites, a key group of Paleozoic invertebrates, are characterized by their segmented bodies and distinctive calcareous exoskeletons. The Calymene blumenbachii's carapace, or cephalon, displays a complex arrangement of ridges, keels, and pits, which served various functions such as protection, respiration, and sensory perception. This trilobite's elongated, slender body segments, typical of the Phacopida order, are not visible in this studio shot, which primarily focuses on its beautifully preserved head shield. The sedimentary rock from which this trilobite was extracted, the Wenlock Limestone, is a testament to the rich marine environments that existed during the Paleozoic Era. This sedimentary rock formation, primarily composed of calcareous mud and gravel, has yielded numerous fossils, providing essential information about the diverse marine life of the Silurian and Devonian periods. Calymene blumenbachii is a remarkable reminder of the incredible biodiversity that flourished during the Phanerozoic Convergence, a period marked by the emergence of complex multicellular organisms. This trilobite's fossilized remains continue to inspire awe and fascination among researchers and enthusiasts alike, offering a glimpse into the ancient world that once existed beneath the waves.
