17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: A Vibrant Mosaic of Commerce and Culture: An Aerial View of Burra Bazaar, Calcutta (Kolkata), India, Circa 1890s Burra Bazaar, also known as Burrabazar, is a bustling marketplace located in the heart of Kolkata, India, which has been a significant commercial hub since the British colonial era. This aerial photograph, estimated to date back to the late 1890s, offers a unique perspective of the market's labyrinthine layout and the teeming activity that once defined this historic district. The image reveals a dense network of narrow streets and winding roads, crisscrossing each other to create a complex grid. The market's name, Burra (meaning 'big' in Bengali), is a testament to its size and the vast array of goods it once offered. The photograph showcases the multitude of shops and stalls, each selling a diverse range of merchandise, from textiles and spices to metalware and household items. The people in the photograph are an integral part of the scene, adding a human element to the bustling marketplace. The traffic, a mix of horse-drawn carts, bicycles, and pedestrians, further emphasizes the market's vitality and the constant flow of commerce. The vibrant colors of the buildings, the intricate patterns of the roofs, and the contrasting textures of the cobblestone streets all contribute to the visual richness of the photograph. As a historical record, this aerial view of Burra Bazaar provides valuable insights into the market's past and the unique character of Kolkata during the late 19th century. The photograph serves as a testament to the city's rich history, its cultural diversity, and the enduring spirit of commerce that continues to thrive in the region.
