31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning painting, titled "The Conquest of Oran by Cardinal Cisneros" by Juan de Borgoña, depicts a pivotal moment in Spanish history. Painted in 1517, the work captures the disembarkation of the Spanish forces led by Cardinal Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros in the coastal city of Oran, Algeria, in 1509. The painting is housed in the Mozarab Chapel in Toledo, Spain. The vibrant and colorful composition showcases the determination and courage of the Castilian soldiers as they set foot on foreign soil. The Spanish conquest of Oran marked the beginning of the end for the Moorish rule in the western Mediterranean, and this painting serves as a visual testament to the significant role Spain played in European history. Cardinal Cisneros, a prominent figure in the Spanish court, led the expedition with the support of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. The painting portrays the cardinal in the center, dressed in his full regalia, overseeing the landing operation. The Spanish soldiers, dressed in armor and carrying weapons, can be seen disembarking from the ships in the background. The painting's vertical format emphasizes the grandeur and scale of the event, with the vast expanse of the sea and the towering cliffs in the background adding to the sense of drama and heroism. The intricate details in the clothing, weapons, and ships demonstrate Borgoña's mastery of the European painting style of the time. This painting is a valuable historical document and an important work of art that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Spain and Europe during the Renaissance period. Its presence in the Mozarab Chapel in Toledo, a significant historical site in its own right, further underscores its historical and artistic significance.
