17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the moment when Lord Charles William Beresford, a distinguished naval commander, addressed the House of Commons on the pressing issue of the state of the Navy in 1888. The date of this historical event falls between 1846 and 1919, a period marked by significant naval expansion and modernization in response to the growing threat of foreign navies. Lord Beresford, a respected figure in the Royal Navy, was a vocal advocate for naval reform and investment. In this image, he can be seen standing confidently before the members of Parliament, his expression serious and determined as he delivers his impassioned speech. The ornate surroundings of the House of Commons, with its high ceilings, ornate columns, and intricate woodwork, serve as a stark contrast to the somber tone of the occasion. The photograph offers a glimpse into the political and historical context of the late 19th century, a time of great change and upheaval. The importance of a strong navy was widely recognized, as Britain's global dominance relied heavily on its naval power. Lord Beresford's address to the House of Commons was a pivotal moment in the ongoing debate over naval policy and spending, and helped shape the future direction of the Royal Navy. This photograph is a valuable historical record of a significant moment in British naval history, and serves as a reminder of the important role that naval power played in shaping the world during this period. The image is also a testament to the enduring legacy of Lord Charles William Beresford, who dedicated his life to serving his country and ensuring its naval supremacy.
