23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Battle of Terheide, painted by Jan Abrahamsz Beerstraten (1622-1666), is a captivating and intricately detailed depiction of a significant moment in Dutch and European history. This Baroque masterpiece, housed in the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam, Holland, portrays the naval battle that took place between the Dutch and English fleets in the North Sea during the Second Anglo-Dutch War, which lasted from 1652 to 1654. The painting, which dates back to the 17th century, captures the intensity and chaos of the battle, with Dutch Admiral Maarten Harpertsz Tromp leading the charge against the English fleet under the command of Admiral Robert Blake. The Dutch fleet, proudly displaying their golden republican flags, is shown launching a fierce attack, with cannons blazing and masts swaying in the wind. The English fleet, equally determined, retaliates with their own formidable weaponry. The panoramic scene unfolds on the vast expanse of the North Sea, with ships of various sizes and shapes engaged in intense combat. The artist's skillful use of light and shadow adds depth and dimension to the painting, while the meticulous attention to detail in the rendering of the ships, their rigging, and the soldiers on board, transport the viewer back to the 17th century. The Battle of Terheide is a testament to the artistic prowess of Jan Abrahamsz Beerstraten, who expertly captured the spirit of the Dutch Republic during the Golden Age, a time of maritime dominance and national pride. This painting is not only a valuable historical document but also a stunning work of art that continues to captivate and inspire viewers to this day.
