23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Battle of Salamis, fought on October 27, 480 BC, was a pivotal moment in ancient Greek history. This iconic image captures the final moments of a brave Persian admiral, who was the bravest of King Xerxes' brothers, as he meets his demise at the hands of the Greek forces. The Persian fleet, which outnumbered the Greeks, was attempting to block the Euripus Straits to prevent the Greek reinforcements from reaching Athens. However, the Greeks, under the command of Themistocles, managed to lure the Persian fleet into a narrow channel where they could be effectively surrounded and defeated. In this powerful and evocative print, we see the Persian admiral, dressed in full armor and wielding a large shield, engaged in fierce combat with Greek soldiers. His legs are spread apart, indicating that he is in the midst of battle, while his arms are raised, holding a weapon. The expression on his face suggests determination and courage, even in the face of certain death. The print also depicts the chaos and intensity of the battle, with ships burning in the background and men clashing with swords and spears. This historical event marked a turning point in the Greco-Persian Wars, as the Greeks were able to hold off the Persian invasion and ultimately emerge victorious. The Battle of Salamis is still celebrated as a symbol of Greek bravery and resilience, and this print serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during this pivotal moment in history.
