17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative print captures the intensity and chaos of the Battle of Bhurtpore, which took place on January 23, 1826, in India. The scene depicts a pivotal moment in the battle, with Carmichael's troops valiantly defending against the advancing Burmese forces. The Burmese army, numbering over 30,000 men, had laid siege to Bhurtpore Fort for several weeks, and the British garrison, led by General Sir John Malcolm, was vastly outnumbered. In this image, we see Carmichael's troops, numbering around 1,800 men, taking up positions behind the fort's walls and preparing to repel the enemy charge. The Burmese forces, armed with muskets and swords, are shown advancing towards the fort, their faces contorted with determination and anger. The British soldiers respond with a hail of bullets, their muskets smoking in the heat of battle. The Battle of Bhurtpore was a turning point in the Anglo-Burmese War, which lasted from 1823 to 1826. The victory secured British control over the region and marked the end of Burmese expansion into India. This print is a testament to the bravery and determination of the British soldiers who fought to defend their territory against overwhelming odds. The exact artist and date of this print are unknown, but it is a powerful reminder of the rich and complex history of India and the battles that shaped its future. The print's intricate details and dynamic composition transport us back to that fateful day in January 1826 and allow us to witness the heroism and sacrifice of those who fought in the Battle of Bhurtpore.
