17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Admiral Sir Michael Culme-Seymour: A Vision of Leadership on the High Seas (1895) This evocative photograph captures the stern gaze and unwavering resolve of Admiral Sir Michael Culme-Seymour, a British naval commander of great renown, as he stands on the deck of a warship during a voyage in 1895. The image, taken from a distance, invites us to ponder the weight of responsibility that rested upon his shoulders as he led his fleet through the vast expanse of the ocean. Born on March 2, 1836, in London, England, Culme-Seymour joined the Royal Navy in 1848 and rose through the ranks with distinction. He served in the Crimean War, the Chinese Armed Intervention, and the Zulu War, earning a reputation as a capable and determined leader. In 1895, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the China Station, a position that placed him at the forefront of Britain's global naval presence. In this photograph, Culme-Seymour is shown in full uniform, his white beard and mustache framing a face etched with the lines of a life spent at sea. His eyes, focused intently on the horizon, betray a sense of purpose and determination that belies the tranquil waters behind him. The raised hand, likely giving orders to his crew, underscores his commanding presence. As the sun sets on the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water, Culme-Seymour stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the British Navy and the men who served in its ranks. This powerful image serves as a reminder of a bygone era, when the sea was a vast, uncharted expanse, and the role of the naval commander was one of both strategic importance and unyielding courage.
