23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, taken in 1884, features the 8th Earl of Denbigh, James Edwin Thorold Rogers (1823-1890), an esteemed English economist, historian, and Liberal politician. At the time of this portrait, Rogers had already made significant contributions to the fields of economics and history, employing historical and statistical methods to analyze some of the most pressing economic and social questions in Victorian England. The Earl of Denbigh is depicted in a thoughtful and introspective pose, donning the formal attire of a professor. His serious expression and furrowed brow suggest deep concentration, perhaps reflecting on the latest economic theories or historical findings. Despite his scholarly pursuits, Rogers was also an avid motoring enthusiast, as evidenced by his later association with the Twenty-Third (Royal Welch Fusiliers) Regiment Motor Cycle Corps during World War I. However, in this photograph, there is no hint of his passion for motor vehicles or military service. Instead, we are presented with a portrait of a man completely absorbed in his intellectual pursuits. The photograph was taken during a pivotal period in Rogers' career, as he sat in the House of Commons from 1880 to 1886. His political tenure was marked by a commitment to social reform, particularly in the areas of education and labor rights. Rogers' work laid the groundwork for the modern study of economic history and continues to influence scholars today. This image offers a glimpse into the life of a remarkable man who straddled the worlds of academia, politics, and historical inquiry, leaving a lasting impact on the intellectual landscape of Victorian England.
