17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this and haunting print, we witness the dramatic moment when Salome receives the severed head of John the Baptist from the hands of a remorseless executioner. Painted by Rembrandt van Rijn or an artist closely associated with him, this masterpiece captures the intense emotions surrounding this biblical event. The composition is dominated by Salome, who stands in the center of the frame. Her delicate figure contrasts sharply with her expression of both fascination and horror as she gazes upon her gruesome prize resting on a silver plate before her. The play of light and shadow accentuates every detail, from her flowing robes to the intricate patterns on the plate. In stark contrast to Salome's beauty and elegance lies John's lifeless body in the foreground. Bound with his hands tied behind his back, he symbolizes martyrdom and sacrifice for his unwavering faith. The executioner looms over him, his presence exuding power and brutality. Rembrandt's masterful use of oil paint brings depth and texture to each element within this scene. Every brushstroke contributes to its overall atmosphere of tension and despair. This print from Liszt Collection serves as a chilling reminder of humanity's capacity for cruelty while also exploring themes such as power dynamics, desire, and consequence. It invites us to reflect upon our own actions and their consequences in our lives today.
