17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This portrait print from the Liszt Collection transports us back in time to an era of maritime exploration and adventure. The anonymous historical figure portrayed is an officer at sea, his stoic expression hinting at a wealth of experience and knowledge. The officer stands confidently, depicted in half-length with his head and face dominating the composition. In his left hand, he holds a pair of binoculars, symbolizing his keen observation skills and readiness for any challenge that may arise on the open waters. His right hand grasps a map displaying a detailed coastline with various mouths marked upon it. Behind him rests a table adorned with additional tools of navigation - a telescope and marine charts - emphasizing the officer's role as both protector and guide on these treacherous seas. His attire speaks to both practicality and style; he wears a thick jacket with folded sleeves, ensuring warmth amidst unpredictable weather conditions. Underneath, he dons a cardigan layered over a high-closing light blouse with elegant sleeves, showcasing attention to detail even in matters of fashion. Painted by John Greenwood in 1760 using canvas and oil paint, this masterpiece measures 81.5 cm by 63 cm by 3.5 cm (90 cm by 71.5 cm by 10 cm including frame). It serves as an enduring tribute to those brave individuals who dedicated their lives to exploring uncharted territories across vast oceans.
