17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print titled "Discussing a Catch of Salmon in a Scottish Fishing-Lodge Interior of a Highland Fisherman's Cottage" we are transported to the heart of Scotland's fishing culture. Painted by British artist William Shiels between 1785 and 1857, this oil on canvas masterpiece captures an intimate scene filled with warmth and camaraderie. The painting portrays a group of fishermen engrossed in conversation, their animated gestures revealing their excitement over the day's catch. Surrounding them is an array of traditional furniture, creating an authentic atmosphere within the cozy interior of the highland fisherman's cottage. As they discuss their successful salmon haul, glasses and cups are raised in celebration while a basket overflowing with fresh fish rests nearby. Shiels' attention to detail shines through as he skillfully depicts every element: from the texture of wooden furniture to the shimmering scales on each fish. The play of light and shadow adds depth to the composition, enhancing its realism. This piece not only showcases Shiels' mastery but also offers us a glimpse into Scottish life during that era – where fishing was not just about sustenance but also served as a source of pride and community bonding. It invites us to imagine ourselves sitting among these fishermen, savoring good wine and engaging in lively conversations about their shared passion for fishing. "Discussing a Catch of Salmon" is more than just art; it is an invitation to immerse ourselves in history and appreciate the beauty found within everyday
