17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print by Henry Taunt takes us back in time to the bustling London Road in Southampton. The image showcases a vibrant street scene filled with people, transport, and architectural marvels of the past. As we gaze down the road, our eyes are immediately drawn to St Paul's Church on the right-hand side. However, it is a bittersweet sight as we learn that this beautiful church was tragically destroyed during the devastating blitz of the 1940s. The photograph captures an era when horse-drawn carriages gracefully trotted along cobbled streets while pedestrians leisurely strolled by. It offers a glimpse into daily life at that time - a moment frozen in history for us to explore and appreciate today. The architecture surrounding London Road exudes charm and character, showcasing buildings with intricate details and unique facades. Each structure tells its own story, reflecting both grandeur and simplicity. Henry Taunt's skillful composition allows us to immerse ourselves fully in this snapshot from yesteryear. We can almost hear the sounds of horses' hooves clattering against cobblestones and feel the energy emanating from busy passersby going about their day. This print serves as a poignant reminder of how cities have evolved over time while honoring those lost during times of conflict. It invites us to reflect upon our shared heritage and cherish these glimpses into our collective past captured through photography like this remarkable piece by Henry Taunt.
