17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this aerial photograph, taken in August 1938 by Aerofilms, we are transported back in time to Swindon, Wiltshire, where the vast expanse of the Great Western Railway (GWR) Works dominates the landscape. The image showcases an intriguing blend of industry, urban development, and railway infrastructure. At the heart of the scene lies Swindon station, a hive of activity with trains neatly aligned on the tracks, ready to depart or arrive. The station, an essential transportation hub, is surrounded by the impressive GWR Works, where steam locomotives and railway carriages were built and maintained. The sheer scale of the works is awe-inspiring, with rows upon rows of buildings and structures stretching out as far as the eye can see. Beyond the works, Swindon New Town emerges, a burgeoning urban area designed to accommodate the growing workforce. The neatly arranged rows of houses, schools, and community buildings create a sense of order and progress. The town's layout is a testament to the forward-thinking planning and infrastructure development of the time. The image also reveals the intricate web of railway lines that crisscross the area, connecting Swindon to the wider railway network. The intricate network of tracks and sidings is a testament to the importance of the railway in Swindon's industrial growth. This photograph offers a unique perspective of Swindon during a pivotal period in its history. It captures the essence of a thriving industrial town, where the railway played a crucial role in shaping its identity and future. The image is a fascinating glimpse into the past, showcasing the interconnectedness of industry, urban development, and transportation.
