Boat Sailing Tall Ship Thames Barge

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Anchored on the Medway" transports us back in time to the early 20th century. Taken by J Dixon Scott between 1925 and 1935, this image captures a picturesque scene on the River Medway below Rochester Bridge in Kent, England. In this stunning composition, we see an array of sailing vessels gracefully anchored along the riverbank. The focal point is undoubtedly a majestic tall ship towering above its smaller counterparts. Its grandeur and intricate rigging command attention against the backdrop of a cloudy sky. The Thames barge, boat, and other sailing vessels scattered around add depth to this maritime tableau. Each vessel seems frozen in time, their sails neatly furled as they await their next voyage or perhaps rest after a long journey. J Dixon Scott's masterful photography skillfully captures both the serenity of these anchored ships and the dynamic energy that lies dormant within them. The play of light and shadow adds an ethereal quality to this timeless scene. As we gaze upon this historic print from Historic England's collection, we can't help but be transported into an era where sailboats ruled our waterways. It serves as a poignant reminder of our rich nautical heritage and invites us to appreciate the beauty found in these magnificent vessels that once graced our rivers with elegance and grace.
