17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back in time to the enchanting Carisbrooke Castle on the Isle of Wight. In this mesmerizing image, we are introduced to Jacob, a donkey with a rich history within these ancient walls. Jacob finds himself nestled within the sixteenth-century well house, standing proudly beside the tread wheel that once powered this remarkable structure. The well shaft looms before him, an emblem of both practicality and beauty. What sets Jacob apart from other donkeys is his name - starting with J, just like all his predecessors at Carisbrooke Castle. This tradition dates back 150 years when Charles I was held captive here during tumultuous times. As he penned letters or devised escape plans, he would sign them with a J. And so it was decided that every donkey gracing these grounds would bear a name beginning with this letter. Photographed by F. N. Broderick between 1850-1900, this image captures not only the spirit of Jacob but also reflects upon the enduring legacy of Carisbrooke Castle itself. With its Tudor and Victorian architecture blending seamlessly into its timbered surroundings, it stands as a testament to centuries gone by. As we gaze upon this photograph print from Historic England, we cannot help but be drawn into its timeless charm and imagine ourselves walking through those historic halls alongside Jacob – an endearing symbol of loyalty intertwined with royal history.
