23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the 13th century, showcasing wheeled siege towers and bridges used by Frederick II of Germany during his successful siege of Jerusalem. The image transports us to a walled city, where soldiers stand guard atop fortified battlements, ready to defend their homeland. The towering siege towers loom over the landscape, a testament to the innovation and technology of medieval warfare. The intricate details captured in this engraving highlight the complexity of military engineering during this period. Drawbridges connect these imposing structures to the city walls, providing access for troops as they strategize their attack. The print's monochrome palette adds an air of mystery and nostalgia, emphasizing the historical significance of this momentous event. Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor and known as "Stupor Mundi" (the wonder of the world), led his forces with determination and skill during this campaign. His victory not only ended the 6th Crusade but also paved the way for a decade-long truce between conflicting factions. As we gaze upon this remarkable piece from Heritage Images' collection, we are reminded of both the power wielded by emperors like Frederick II and the enduring legacy left behind by military leaders throughout history. This print serves as a poignant reminder that even amidst conflict and destruction, human ingenuity can create astonishing feats that shape our understanding of warfare forever.
