17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite artwork titled "Studies of Fruits, Insects and Shells" from the late 16th to mid-17th century. The piece is attributed to the talented artist Georg Flegel, although it was formerly believed to be created by Maria Sibylla Merian. The image transports us back in time, allowing us a glimpse into the world of natural history during this period. With meticulous attention to detail, Flegel or Merian captures an array of fascinating subjects including fruits, insects, and seashells. Each element is rendered with vibrant colors on parchment using watercolor techniques. In this composition, we are treated to a close-up view of various elements that make up our natural environment. Delicate butterflies flutter gracefully amidst luscious strawberries and gooseberries while a moth hovers near a runner bean plant. The intricate beauty displayed here reminds us of the wonders found within nature's bounty. As we admire this heritage art piece housed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), we can't help but appreciate its significance as both scientific study and artistic expression intertwine seamlessly. It serves as a testament to the curiosity and dedication these artists had towards understanding and documenting our world. Through this stunning photograph print by Heritage Art/Heritage Images, we are reminded once again of how art has always been intertwined with science throughout history – capturing not only what meets the eye but also revealing hidden depths waiting to be discovered within our surroundings.
