17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the enchanting Southwark Cathedral in London, as it stood in 1825. Painted by the talented artist G Yates, this view showcases the end of the north transept of the cathedral, with its magnificent architecture and intricate details. The image also features two women collecting water from a pump on the street, adding a touch of everyday life to this historical scene. Originally known as St Mary Ovarie Priory Church, Southwark Cathedral underwent significant changes during England's Reformation in 1539 when it became St Saviour Parish Church. Eventually, in 1897, it was bestowed with its current name - Southwark Cathedral. The photograph perfectly encapsulates the essence of medieval Britain with its stunning color palette and meticulous attention to detail. It serves as a testament to both Christian faith and architectural brilliance that defined this era. Preserved within Guildhall Library and Art Gallery's collection, this watercolor masterpiece by G Yates transports viewers back to a time when religion played an integral role in society. With its towering windows and grand exterior design, Southwark Cathedral stands tall as an emblematic symbol of English Christianity. This remarkable piece is not only a visual delight but also offers insight into British history and culture during the nineteenth century. Its charm lies not only in capturing architectural beauty but also showcasing ordinary moments like women fetching water – reminding us that even amidst grandeur, daily life continues outside these sacred walls.
