31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the intensity and drama of a sea battle between Dutch and Spanish ships in 1604. Painted by Aert Anthonisz, a renowned artist of the Baroque period, this artwork showcases his exceptional talent for capturing historical events with remarkable detail. The composition depicts a chaotic scene on the open seas, as warships engage in fierce combat. The Dutch vessels, representing the Netherlands during the Eighty Years War, fiercely clash with their Spanish counterparts from the infamous Armada. Each ship is meticulously rendered, showcasing their intricate designs and imposing presence. Anthonisz's masterful use of oil on wood brings an incredible depth to this painting. The play of light and shadow adds to its realism while emphasizing the tumultuous nature of naval battles. As viewers gaze upon this artwork, they are transported back in time to witness firsthand the bravery and determination displayed by sailors fighting for their respective nations. Now housed within Berlin's Staatliche Museen collection, this piece stands as a testament to both artistic excellence and historical significance. It serves as a reminder of past conflicts that have shaped our world today. This stunning portrayal invites us to reflect on the sacrifices made at sea during times of war while appreciating Anthonisz's skillful interpretation through fine art imagery.
