17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable Roman mosaic from the 3rd century, depicting a thrilling spectacle of performers engaged in combat with a fierce leopard. The mosaic, discovered in Moknine, Tunisia and now housed at the Sousse Museum, offers an intriguing glimpse into ancient entertainment and warfare practices. In this scene, members of the renowned Telegenic Troop demonstrate their exceptional skills as they skillfully wield weapons such as spears to overpower the formidable feline. As one performer strikes down the leopard with precision, a servant dutifully presents them with their well-deserved payment for their daring act. The vibrant colors and intricate details of this artifact transport us back to an era where spectacles like these were highly anticipated events that captivated audiences. It serves as a testament to the advanced artistic techniques employed by Roman craftsmen during this period. While it is important to acknowledge that animal cruelty was prevalent in ancient civilizations for entertainment purposes, we must view this artwork within its historical context rather than condoning such practices today. This photograph provides valuable insight into both the profession of these skilled performers and the complex nature of Roman society at that time. Photographed by CM Dixon (not affiliated with any company), this image allows us to appreciate not only the beauty but also understand how art can serve as a window into past cultures and civilizations.
