23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Prince Coburg - A Stalwart General of the Holy Roman Empire

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print showcases Prince Josias of Coburg, a renowned German general who left an indelible mark on the history of the Holy Roman Empire. Created by J Pass and Clement Pierre Marillier, this engraving beautifully captures the essence of a man whose military prowess shaped his era. Born in 1737, Prince Josias fought valiantly in numerous conflicts that defined his time. From the Seven Years War to the Russo-Turkish-Austrian War and eventually serving in the Austrian Netherlands during the French Revolutionary Wars, he displayed unwavering dedication to his country and its cause. However, as with many great leaders, Prince Josias faced defeat at times. The Battle of Fleurus in 1794 marked a turning point for him and Austria as they lost control over the Netherlands to France. This setback brought an end to his illustrious career but did not diminish his legacy as one of Germany's most esteemed generals. In this portrait, we see a stoic figure exuding strength and determination. His piercing gaze reflects years spent leading soldiers into battle while also hinting at moments of contemplation amidst turmoil. Through this print, we are transported back to eighteenth-century Europe—a time when men like Prince Josias played pivotal roles in shaping nations' destinies. As we admire this remarkable piece of artistry by J Pass and Clement Pierre Marillier, let us remember Prince Josias' contributions to history—a testament to courage under fire and unwavering commitment to duty.
