17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Great image capturing a pivotal moment during Philander C. Knox's historic visit to Central America and the West Indies in 1912. In this photograph, taken in San Domingo, Knox is seen in the company of Martha Kuntze, Martha Ewing Newcombe, and George W. Harris, all prominent figures of their time. Knox, an American lawyer and statesman, served as the United States Secretary of State from 1909 to 1912 under President Taft. Dressed in a flat cap and suit, Knox exudes an air of authority and confidence. Martha Kuntze, wearing a flowing white dress, and Martha Ewing Newcombe, in a stylish black ensemble, add grace and elegance to the group portrait. George W. Harris, wearing a suit and hat, completes the quartet. This photograph was taken during a time when the United States was expanding its influence in Central America and the Caribbean. Knox's visit to these regions was significant as he sought to strengthen diplomatic relations and promote American interests. The image, taken by Harris & Ewing, is a testament to the fashion trends of the early 1910s. The use of glass negatives in the photographic process gives the image a unique texture and depth. The photograph is now part of the Harris & Ewing Collection at the Library of Congress, a valuable resource for historians and researchers studying this period in American history. Overall, this photograph provides a fascinating glimpse into the past, capturing a moment in time when American politics and diplomacy intersected with the people and cultures of Central America and the West Indies.
