17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph, titled "Ox team that hauls pulpwood, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi," was captured by renowned American photographer Dorothea Lange in the 1930s during the Great Depression. The image offers a poignant glimpse into rural life during this economically challenging period in American history. Lange, a key figure in the Farm Security Administration (FSA) and later the Office of War Information (OWI), documented the struggles of farmers and rural communities in the United States. In this photograph, two oxen, their powerful muscles straining as they laboriously haul pulpwood through the countryside, serve as a reminder of the reliance on animals as beasts of burden in rural areas. The oxen's determination and resilience are mirrored in the faces of the men guiding them, their expressions etched with the weight of their daily toils. The image is a testament to the enduring spirit of rural communities during the Great Depression and the importance of their contributions to the American economy. The rustic setting, with its rolling hills and bare trees, adds to the sense of ruggedness and resilience, making this photograph a powerful representation of the rural South during this era. Taken as a nitrate negative, this photograph has become an iconic image in the annals of American history, showcasing the raw beauty and grit of rural life during the Great Depression. Dorothea Lange's masterful composition and her ability to capture the essence of her subjects have made this photograph a cherished piece of heritage art and an enduring symbol of the American spirit.
