31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Lena Dances with the Knight. Among Gnomes and Trolls, 1915

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating painting that transports viewers into the enchanting world of Swedish folklore and mythology. The artist, John Bauer (1882-1918), skillfully captures the essence of this traditional tale through his use of watercolour and gouache. In this mesmerizing scene, Lena, a young maiden, gracefully dances with a valiant knight amidst a mystical forest inhabited by gnomes and trolls. The vibrant colors bring to life the magical creatures from Norse mythology as they watch in awe. The symbolism within this artwork speaks volumes about the power of legends and fairy tales. Bauer's attention to detail allows us to delve deeper into the narrative; each stroke reveals another layer of meaning. The white color palette adds an ethereal quality to the composition, enhancing its otherworldly atmosphere. This fine art print serves as both an allegory and homage to Swedish literature and folklore. It pays tribute to "Tuvstarr" one of Bauer's most famous illustrations for Elsa Beskow's book "Among Gnomes and Trolls". Through his work, Bauer immortalizes these mythical beings while inviting us on a journey through time. As part of a private collection, this exquisite piece connects us with our cultural heritage while reminding us of the enduring allure of mythological tales. Its presence evokes feelings of wonderment and nostalgia for times long past—a true testament to John Bauer's artistic prowess in capturing Sweden
