17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases Dr. Jesse Lazear, a prominent figure in the field of medicine during the late 19th century. Born in 1866, Lazear dedicated his life to researching yellow fever alongside the American Commission. His groundbreaking work aimed to unravel the mysteries surrounding this deadly disease that plagued Cuba and other countries. Tragically, Lazear's own pursuit of knowledge led to his untimely demise. In September 1900, he was stung by an infected mosquito while conducting experiments related to yellow fever transmission. Despite his valiant efforts, Lazear succumbed to the illness just one day later. The photograph captures Lazear's distinguished appearance with a full beard that reflects both wisdom and determination. It serves as a poignant reminder of his significant contributions to medical science and the sacrifices made in pursuit of understanding dangerous diseases like yellow fever. Originally featured on a cigar card from "History of Cuba" this image is part of a collection by Geografico Universal for Susini y La Corona Cigarros Tabacalera Cubana - not intended for commercial use. The monochrome portrait transports us back to the 1920s when scientific advancements were rapidly transforming healthcare practices. Dr. Jesse William Lazear will forever be remembered as an esteemed physician who fearlessly pushed boundaries in order to protect public health and advance our understanding of infectious diseases such as yellow fever
