17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases Ivan Bilibin's exquisite illustration for the renowned poem "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" by Aleksandr Pushkin. Created in 1905, this artwork can be found in the esteemed collection of the A Pushkin Memorial Museum in St Petersburg. Bilibin's artistic prowess is evident as he brings to life a tumultuous scene set amidst stormy seas. The painting depicts a tempestuous weather with waves crashing against a ship, sending sprays of foam into the air. The night sky is adorned with stars, casting an ethereal glow over the turbulent waters. The artist skillfully captures the raw power and energy of nature through his use of color and ink. The rough brushstrokes convey the intensity of the storm, while also adding depth and texture to the illustration. This masterpiece transports viewers to another time and place, evoking a sense of awe and wonder at both its geographical features and metaphorical significance. Bilibin's interpretation perfectly complements Pushkin's poetic narrative, immersing us in a world where reality blends seamlessly with fantasy. As we gaze upon this remarkable piece, we are reminded of Russia's rich cultural heritage and its profound influence on literature and art during the 19th century. It serves as a testament to both Pushkin's timeless poetry and Bilibin's exceptional talent as an illustrator.
