Funny Lightning Rain Raining Short Story Silly Storm Thunder Thunderstorm Cuthbert Bede Edward Bradley

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

A Long-Vacation Vigil

EDITORS COMMENTS
by Cuthbert Bede, B.A. 1854: A Timeless Tale of Weather-Watching and Whimsy This evocative illustration, titled "A Long-Vacation Vigil," was created by the enigmatic Cuthbert Bede, B.A. in 1854. The image, published in the esteemed "Illustrated London News," captures a moment of anticipation and amusement during a thunderstorm. A young man, bundled against the elements, stands outside in the rain, gazing up at the tempestuous sky. The intensity of the storm is mirrored in the expression of the woman watching from her window. Her hand gestures in a silent conversation with the young man, her concern for his safety tempered by a hint of mischief. The scene is set against the backdrop of a Victorian night, with the ominous clouds casting long shadows and the rain pelting down in sheets. The contrast between the man's determination to endure the storm and the woman's concern for his wellbeing creates a delightful tension. The illustration, a masterclass in engraving, transports us back to a time when the simple pleasures of observing the weather could provide hours of entertainment. The humour and whimsy of the scene, as well as the intriguing mystery surrounding the identity of Cuthbert Bede, make this a timeless addition to any collection. Whether you're a fan of Victorian literature, a collector of historical prints, or simply someone who appreciates a good story, "A Long-Vacation Vigil" is sure to capture your imagination and delight your senses. This image, from the extensive archives of the Print Collector, serves as a reminder of the power of storytelling and the enduring appeal of a well-crafted illustration. Let the tale of the young man and the woman in the rain transport you to another time and place, and leave you wondering what other stories lie hidden within the pages of history.
