23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the Fokker T-2 Instrument Panel from 1923, a remarkable piece of aviation history. The wooden instrument panel, removed from the aircraft, features eight instruments securely fastened with screws. It was these basic instruments that allowed pioneers John Macready and Kelly Oakley to embark on their groundbreaking non-stop coast-to-coast flight in this very aircraft. Known for their daring "seat of the pants" flying style, Macready and Oakley relied solely on dead reckoning as they hugged the terrain during their epic journey from Long Island, New York to San Diego, California. Their record-breaking flight lasted an impressive 26 hours, 50 minutes and 48 seconds. The photograph not only captures a significant moment in American aviation but also serves as a testament to human ingenuity and determination. As we gaze at this relic of the past, we are reminded of the incredible advancements made in air transport during the early 20th century. Displayed within the National Air and Space Museum's collection at Smithsonian Institution's NASM (not affiliated with any commercial use), this object represents both technological progress and national pride. Its vibrant colors bring life to an era defined by innovation and exploration. As we admire this heritage art piece today, let us celebrate those who paved the way for modern aviation while honoring their spirit of adventure that continues to inspire us all.
