23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning full-length engraving, titled "Fashion Plate (Walking Dress), 1818," is a captivating example of women's fashion during the Regency era in Britain. Created by renowned publisher and printmaker Rudolph Ackermann, this hand-colored engraving on paper showcases an elegant woman dressed in the latest mode. The empire gown, characterized by its high waistline and full skirt, is adorned with intricate patterns and a brown color palette, making it a popular choice for the 1810s. The empire line, which accentuated the natural curves of the female form, was a defining feature of this era. The woman wears a matching pelisse, a long, loose-fitting outer robe, which was essential for protecting against the elements while strolling in the countryside. Her bonnet, adorned with a plume, completes the outfit, adding a touch of sophistication and style. A handbag, a practical accessory for carrying essentials, is slung over her arm. The detail in this engraving is remarkable, from the delicate folds of the fabric to the intricate patterns on the bonnet and the woman's shoes. This fashion plate, which is part of the collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), provides a glimpse into the past, offering a window into the world of Regency-era fashion. It is a testament to the artistry and creativity of the time, and a reminder of the importance of fashion as a reflection of society and culture.
