23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning Fashion Plate, created by renowned English publisher and printmaker Rudolph Ackermann in 1814, showcases an elegant walking dress from the Regency era. The dress, characterized by its empire line and full skirt, was a popular choice for ladies during this period. The empire line, which sits just below the bust, creates an elongated silhouette, accentuating the slenderness of the figure. The dress is adorned with intricate detailing, including a bow at the back and long, fitted sleeves. The bodice is simple and unadorned, allowing the skirt to take center stage. The skirt, with its fullness and voluminous layers, would have required a substantial amount of fabric, making it a significant investment for a lady of the time. The fashion plate also features a number of accessories that were essential to a lady's outfit during this period. A large, wide-brimmed hat shields the wearer from the sun, while a parasol provides additional protection. A small, delicate handbag is slung over the lady's arm, and a pair of gloves completes the look. The print itself is a hand-colored engraving on paper, with vibrant colors adding depth and texture to the image. The intricacy of the detailing is evident in the way the fabric folds and drapes, and the hat and parasol are rendered with a level of realism that speaks to the skill of the engraver. This fashion plate offers a glimpse into the world of Regency-era fashion, providing a window into the clothing and accessories that defined this period in British history. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is home to this and many other historic fashion plates, making it an invaluable resource for those interested in the history of fashion and the arts.
