17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Dark Trees, 1923
EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating watercolor painting by the talented British artist John Sell Cotman. This enchanting artwork, featured in "The Water-Colour Drawings of John Sell Cotman" transports viewers to the romantic era of the early 20th century. Cotman's mastery lies in his ability to evoke emotions through his use of color and composition. In this particular piece, he skillfully depicts a tranquil countryside scene with an air of mystery and darkness. The dense woodland, painted in shades of green and brown, creates an atmosphere that is both serene and haunting. As we gaze upon this picturesque landscape, we are drawn into its depths. Standing on the riverbank, we can almost feel the cool breeze rustling through the leaves and hear the gentle flow of water nearby. The background people waiting under shaded trees add a touch of intrigue to the scene – who are they? What are they waiting for? Cotman's work belongs to the Norwich School artistic movement which sought inspiration from nature and emphasized capturing atmospheric effects. Through his meticulous brushwork and attention to detail, he brings life to every element within this composition. This exquisite print captures not only Cotman's exceptional talent but also represents a significant period in British art history. It serves as a reminder of our deep connection with nature and how it continues to inspire artists across different centuries and artistic schools alike.
