17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the elegance and sophistication of the 18th century. The subject, a dandy from around 1729, is depicted in both court dress and town dress, showcasing his impeccable sense of style. The artist behind this exquisite piece is Tamisier, who beautifully captures every intricate detail of the dandy's attire. In court dress, our protagonist stands tall with an air of confidence. His coat exudes opulence with its rich color and ornate embroidery. Paired with breeches that emphasize his slender figure and stockings that add a touch of refinement, he truly embodies the epitome of fashion during this era. Transitioning to town dress, we see a more relaxed yet equally fashionable side to our dandy. His hat adds flair to his ensemble while his wig perfectly frames his face. The attention to detail in this engraving is remarkable – from the texture of his clothing to the expression on his face – it transports us directly into 18th-century France. This print comes from "La France et les Francais a Travers les Siecles" edited by F Roy and published between 1882-1884. It serves as a testament not only to French fashion but also as a window into history itself. As we gaze upon this image, we can't help but admire the timeless allure and enduring legacy of these elegant garments worn by men like our distinguished dandy.
