17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print titled "Cortez's Fleet Sailing for Mexico, 1882" we are transported back in time to witness a pivotal moment in history. The anonymous artist skillfully captures the grandeur and drama of Hernán Cortés' expedition as his fleet sets sail for Mexico. The image is filled with an air of anticipation and adventure, as the ships glide through the calm waters towards their unknown destiny. The artist's attention to detail is remarkable - from the billowing sails that catch the wind, to each meticulously crafted vessel that forms part of Cortés' formidable armada. As we gaze upon this scene, we cannot help but imagine the emotions coursing through the veins of those aboard these vessels. Determination, hope, and perhaps even a hint of trepidation fill their hearts as they embark on a voyage into uncharted territories. This print serves as a powerful reminder of the audacity and ambition that characterized Cortés' conquests during this era. It invites us to reflect on both the triumphs and tragedies that unfolded during Spain's colonization efforts in America. Preserved within a private collection, this artwork allows us to connect with our past and appreciate how historical events have shaped our present reality. It stands as an enduring testament to human exploration and reminds us of our shared heritage - one marked by discovery, conflict, cultural exchange, and ultimately resilience.
