17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Closed Door," painted by Octave Tassaert in 1855, is a captivating oil painting that transports us back to the 19th century and invites us to ponder the simple joys and challenges of rural life. The scene is set outside, with a frosty winter day enveloping the landscape. Two boys, bundled up against the cold, stand before a closed door, their direct gazes fixed on the viewer. One boy, slightly older and wearing a red jacket, holds open the door for his younger brother, who wears a blue coat and clutches a wooden sled. A third figure, a girl in a red dress, sits on the steps, her gaze also directed towards the viewer. The brothers' expression convey a sense of anticipation and excitement, perhaps waiting for someone or something to arrive. The girl, seated on the steps, seems to be lost in thought, her gaze reflective and introspective. The door, a symbol of threshold and transition, is closed, adding an element of mystery and intrigue to the scene. This painting, now housed at the Musée de la Vie Romantique in Paris, is a beautiful example of the Romantic era in French art. The use of color and light, the direct gaze of the subjects, and the emphasis on the natural world all reflect the artistic trends of the time. The painting invites us to reflect on the concept of family, sibling relationships, and the passage of time, making it a timeless and beloved work of art.
