17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Meeting, 1884
EDITORS COMMENTS
by Maria Konstantinowka Bashkirtseff captures a beautiful moment of innocence and togetherness. In this painting, we see a gathering of people in an exterior location, possibly a street or yard in France. The focal point is a young boy engrossed in reading while his older brother stands beside him, engaged in conversation. The artist skillfully portrays the concept of bonding and companionship through the body language and expressions of the subjects. The boy's thoughtful gaze suggests curiosity and naivety, while his brother's attentive stance indicates their strong friendship. They are surrounded by other individuals engaged in dialogue and amusement, creating an atmosphere of enjoyment. The composition is enhanced by the presence of a fence that acts as both a physical barrier and symbolizes the barriers between different social groups or gangs during that era. Despite these divisions, this meeting demonstrates unity among diverse individuals who come together for recreational purposes. Bashkirtseff's use of color adds vibrancy to the scene, capturing the youthful energy present within this group. The artist invites us to ponder upon themes such as trust, communication, and strategy as we observe these characters interacting with one another. "The Meeting" serves as a reminder that even amidst our busy lives, taking time for meaningful conversations with friends and loved ones can bring joy and fulfillment. This print from Musee d'Orsay encapsulates an innocent moment frozen in time – one that continues to resonate with viewers today.
