17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Camp Gossips-Atsina, c1908: A Moment of Intimate Connection Amongst Four Atsina Women and a Dog This evocative photograph, titled 'Camp Gossips-Atsina,' captures a moment of quiet intimacy amongst four Atsina women and a dog, as they engage in a conversation, their backs turned towards the camera. The scene is set in the American West, likely in the state of Montana, United States of America, with tipis and other tents visible in the background. Edward Sheriff Curtis, a renowned American anthropologist, ethnographer, and photographer, captured this image during the early 20th century, around 1908. Curtis was known for his extensive documentation of North American indigenous cultures, particularly those of the Plains and Southwest regions. The Atsina people, also known as the Gros Ventres, are an Algonquian-speaking tribe originally from the Woodlands region of what is now Canada. They later migrated to the Plains and adopted a semi-nomadic lifestyle, living in tipis and subsisting on a diet of buffalo and other game. The women in this photograph, dressed in traditional clothing, appear deep in conversation, their expressions suggesting a sense of camaraderie and connection. The presence of a dog adds to the domestic scene, underscoring the interconnectedness of human and animal life in this community. This photograph offers a glimpse into the daily life of the Atsina people during a time of great change, as their traditional way of life was being disrupted by the encroachment of European settlers and the United States government. Curtis's documentation of their culture and traditions remains an invaluable record of their heritage and history.
