FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

WOMEN's SUFFRAGE, 1915 - The Awakening
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This powerful print captures the essence of the women's suffrage movement in America during the early 20th century. Created by Henry Mayer, an American cartoonist, this allegorical representation showcases the progress made by suffragettes across different states. The image depicts a symbolic figure representing the suffrage cause striding confidently through western states where women already had the right to vote. As she moves towards the east, women from those regions reach out to her with hope and determination. This visual metaphor beautifully illustrates how momentum for change was spreading across America. Accompanying this thought-provoking artwork is a poem by Alice Duer Miller that further amplifies its message. Through her words, Miller emphasizes the importance of granting equal voting rights to all women. This historic piece serves as a reminder of the struggles faced by suffragettes during this era and their relentless pursuit of equality. It also highlights how progress can be achieved when individuals band together for a common cause. As we reflect on this photograph and its significance within American history, it is important to acknowledge that it represents not just a political movement but also a significant milestone in gender equality. The passage of the 19th Amendment during the Progressive Era marked a turning point in our nation's journey towards inclusivity and justice for all citizens.
