17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the art of dueling in 1595, as depicted in Vincentio Saviolo's renowned work, "His Practise". The woodcut image transports us back to Elizabethan England, where actors preparing for stage duels often turned to this treatise originally published in 1558. Intriguingly, the illustration captures two men engaged in a fierce sword fight within an ornate interior setting. Their clothing reflects the fashion of the late medieval period and hints at their social status. One can almost sense the tension and adrenaline as these skilled fencers face off against each other. The Italian influence on dueling techniques is evident through their precise movements and strategic positioning. The use of knives alongside swords adds another layer of complexity to this intense battle. It is fascinating to witness how warfare strategies were adapted into a form of entertainment during the Renaissance era. As we delve deeper into this mesmerizing woodcut, it becomes clear that these men are not engaging in a friendly spar but rather a serious challenge fraught with potential trouble. The skillful execution captured here highlights both the danger and allure associated with dueling during this time. Granger Art on Demand has preserved this historical gem for us to appreciate and learn from today. This print serves as a testament to our fascination with past traditions while reminding us of how far we have come since those days when sword fights were not merely confined to theatrical performances or works of fiction.
