23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "CANADA: TORONTO, 1847" takes us back in time to the bustling streets of Toronto over a century ago. The wood engraving, created by an English artist in 1847, beautifully captures the essence of this Canadian city during that era. The image showcases an aerial view of Toronto's mid-19th-century landscape. From above, we can see the intricate details of the city's architecture and layout. The rooftops create a patchwork quilt-like pattern as they stretch across the frame, giving us a glimpse into the lives and homes of its residents. As we explore further into this historic scene, our attention is drawn to the lively street below. People from all walks of life fill the thoroughfare; their presence adds vibrancy and movement to this snapshot frozen in time. It is fascinating to observe how fashion has evolved since then – men donning top hats and long coats while women elegantly stroll along with parasols. The Capitol building stands tall amidst its surroundings, serving as a symbol of power and governance for Canada at that time. Its grandeur commands attention against the backdrop of smaller buildings nearby. Overall, this wood engraving offers us a unique window into Toronto's past - capturing both its architectural beauty and vibrant street life during one specific moment in history. It serves as a reminder of how cities evolve over time while also preserving their rich heritage for future generations to appreciate and learn from.
