23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a dramatic moment in history as an impending storm interrupts a fierce battle between the French naval squadron, led by Comte d Estaing, and the English fleet on 11 August 1778. The artist, Pierre Ozanne, skillfully depicts the intensity of this maritime conflict during the American Revolution. The image showcases two powerful forces locked in combat amidst tumultuous waves and darkened skies. The French ships stand tall with their sails billowing against the strong winds, while their English counterparts fiercely retaliate with cannons blazing. However, nature's fury intervenes as an approaching storm looms ominously overhead. The scene is filled with tension and anticipation as both sides are forced to momentarily halt their action due to the imminent danger posed by nature's wrath. This unexpected turn of events adds another layer of complexity to an already intense battle for control over America's destiny. Ozanne's contemporary drawing masterfully captures every detail - from the intricate design of each warship to the expressions of determination etched upon sailors' faces. It serves as a testament to his artistic prowess and ability to convey not only historical accuracy but also raw emotion. This remarkable artwork transports viewers back in time, allowing them to witness firsthand one pivotal moment that shaped the course of history. It serves as a reminder that even amidst chaos and conflict, nature has its own way of asserting dominance over mankind's ambitions.
