17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This wood engraving, created by Sir John Gilbert in 1881, captures a pivotal moment from William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The scene depicts Benedick, one of the play's central characters, eavesdropping on a conversation and contemplating the power of words. As he listens intently, his face reveals a mix of curiosity and contemplation. The caption aptly quotes Benedick's inner monologue from Act II, Scene III: "Shall quips, and sentences, and these paper bullets of the brain awe a man from the career of his humour?". This line encapsulates Benedick's musings on whether clever remarks and witty banter can truly deter him from pursuing his own comedic path. In this illustration, Gilbert skillfully portrays the essence of an Elizabethan gentleman lost in thought. The intricate details in each stroke bring out Benedick's character as well as capture the spirit of 16th-century England. As we gaze upon this print today, we are reminded not only of Shakespeare's timeless brilliance but also how human nature transcends time. We still grapple with questions about the impact words have on our lives and whether they can sway us away from our true selves. Granger Art on Demand has once again provided us with an exquisite piece that invites us to delve into history while pondering universal themes that continue to resonate with audiences across centuries.
