23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant piece of American history - the original wooden viaduct at Dale Creek, Wyoming. Built for the Union Pacific railroad during the era of westward expansion, this remarkable railway bridge stands as a testament to the ambitious spirit that shaped North America's transport infrastructure. The image showcases the grandeur of this engineering marvel, with its intricate lattice-like structure stretching across the vast landscape. The wooden beams seem to defy gravity as they support the weight of passing trains, symbolizing both human ingenuity and our relentless pursuit of progress. A lone figure can be seen on top of one of the viaduct's towering pillars, adding a sense of scale and emphasizing man's triumph over nature in conquering such challenging terrain. This male presence serves as a reminder that behind every great feat lies countless hours of labor by dedicated individuals who laid down tracks connecting distant corners of this vast continent. Although time has taken its toll on this once vital artery for trade and travel, it is impossible to overlook its historical significance. Eventually replaced by steel construction before being abandoned altogether, this photograph immortalizes an important chapter in American railroads' evolution. Henry Guttmann Collection masterfully captured not just an architectural wonder but also a visual representation of progress itself. As we gaze upon this stunning print today, we are transported back to an era when railroads were lifelines connecting communities and propelling nations forward into uncharted territories.
