17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Back Yards (1923) - A Glimpse into the Harsh Realities of Bethnal Green, East London
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print takes us back to 1923, offering a poignant glimpse into the exterior of houses in a slum area of Bethnal Green, east London. Captured by the Topical Press Agency/Getty Images, this image portrays a landscape that tells stories of struggle and resilience. The composition reveals rows of modest houses with dilapidated fences and an old lamppost standing tall amidst the poverty-stricken neighborhood. The absence of people adds to the sense of desolation and highlights the harsh living conditions faced by residents during that era. The photograph's monochromatic format enhances its historical significance, emphasizing both architectural details and social issues prevalent at that time. It serves as a powerful reminder of how art can shed light on societal challenges. Through this lens, we witness not just physical decay but also gain insight into broader themes such as poverty, residential districts' struggles, and urban life in early 20th century England. This archival piece invites contemplation about class disparities while evoking empathy for those who endured these hardships. As we gaze upon this snapshot frozen in time, let us reflect on how far society has come since then while acknowledging that there is still work to be done to ensure equitable living conditions for all.
