17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Bastille Under Siege: A Glimpse into the Turmoil of the French Revolution". This print takes us back to a pivotal moment in history - the infamous siege of Bastille during the French Revolution. The image, captured by Edward Gooch, showcases an original engraving by J Chapman that vividly depicts this significant event. As we delve into this black and white portrait, we are transported to 1789 when tensions were running high in France. The ground plan reveals the architectural layout of Bastille, while troops surround it with an air of aggression. Men armed with rifles stand guard as they face a restless crowd below. The scene is filled with palpable conflict and violence as shots ring out from both sides. This snapshot encapsulates not only the military aspect but also highlights the human role in shaping history through revolution and resistance against oppressive regimes. Bastille, once a symbol of royal authority and law enforcement, became synonymous with rebellion as it was stormed by revolutionary mobs seeking freedom from tyranny. Its fall marked a turning point in French culture and politics, igniting further waves of unrest throughout Europe. Edward Gooch's photograph serves as a powerful reminder of how art can capture historical moments that shape our world today. It invites us to reflect on the sacrifices made during times of war and revolution while reminding us never to forget those who fought for liberty amidst chaos.
