17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage illustration captures the exquisite beauty of a Redpoll, a small passerine bird belonging to the finch family Fringillidae. The artist, Francis Orpen Morris, skillfully portrays the distinct red markings on its head, which are characteristic of these charming creatures. Dating back to the 19th century, this print showcases an era when natural history and wildlife were celebrated through art. The intricate details in this engraving highlight each feather of the Redpoll's plumage with precision and finesse. Its vibrant colors come alive on paper, offering a glimpse into the rich diversity found in our natural world. This artwork serves as a testament to both artistic talent and scientific curiosity that prevailed during that time. As we gaze upon this antique image created between 1850-1859, we are transported back in time to appreciate nature's wonders through the eyes of past generations. It evokes nostalgia for an old-fashioned era when such illustrations were cherished for their educational value and aesthetic appeal. Displayed against a backdrop of muted tones reminiscent of aged parchment, this lithograph exudes timeless elegance. It is not merely a piece of art but also an embodiment of our fascination with wildlife and our desire to preserve it for future generations. Duncan1890 has captured this remarkable piece from Fine Art Storehouse; it is more than just another print—it is an invitation to explore the intricate beauty found within nature itself.
