17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage engraving captures a poignant scene from 19th Century London, showcasing the terraced houses that defined the inner city during the Victorian era. The image takes us back to circa 1870, offering a glimpse into the residential structures of that time. Set in a poor area, this etched illustration portrays the harsh reality of city life for many inhabitants. The print showcases row upon row of tightly packed townhouses, their dark and blackened exteriors reflecting both age and poverty. In true Victorian style, clotheslines hang across paved yards, revealing glimpses of daily life amidst crowded living conditions. This evocative woodcut by Gustave Doré transports us to an era when housing problems and social issues were prevalent in London. The architectural styles depicted here are quintessentially Victorian—a testament to English culture and British history. As we explore this engraved image created between 1870-1889, it becomes evident how densely populated these residential districts were. Despite its monochromatic nature, this print speaks volumes about urban scenes in 19th Century England. It serves as a reminder of past struggles while shedding light on the living conditions endured by those residing in slums at that time. Duncan1890's remarkable artwork allows us to delve into the heart of Victorian London—uncovering not only its architectural beauty but also its societal challenges and cultural heritage.
