Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This coloured engraving titled "A German Present or the Lovers Token, 1816" captures a satirical scene at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. In this comical portrayal by an English School artist from the 19th century, we witness a significant moment in British royalty. The Prince Regent, who would later become George IV, presents his daughter Princess Charlotte with a suitor for her hand in marriage – the German Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The image humorously depicts various elements that add to its satirical nature. We see the Prince Regent holding a broken leg and polo stick, symbolizing his gout-ridden condition. Meanwhile, Prince Leopold offers Princess Charlotte a large German sausage as a gift, creating a playful double entendre. This print not only showcases the political alliance between Britain and Germany but also provides insight into the dynamics of royal courtship during that era. It highlights both familial relationships and diplomatic considerations within European nobility. With its vibrant colours and intricate details, this artwork invites viewers to delve into historical satire while appreciating its artistic merits.
