23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This 19th-century engraving, titled "Cheetah, Acinonyx jubatus. 1834" showcases the remarkable beauty and grace of one of nature's most endangered creatures. The print, created by William Alexander Forbes in collaboration with Joseph Kidd, is a handcoloured steel engraving that brings to life the exquisite details of this magnificent cheetah. The artwork is part of a private collection and was featured in William Rhinds' renowned publication, "The Miscellany of Natural History: Feline Species". This particular illustration captures the essence of the cheetah's unique characteristics and its significance as possibly being the panther revered by ancient civilizations. With its sleek body covered in striking spots and powerful limbs built for speed, the cheetah stands as an emblematic representation of wildlife preservation efforts. As an endangered species facing numerous threats to its survival, this engraving serves as a poignant reminder of our responsibility to protect these majestic animals. The image transports us back to early 19th-century Britain when natural history studies were at their peak. It reflects both scientific curiosity and artistic excellence through meticulous attention to detail. The delicate hand-colouring adds depth and vibrancy to every stroke. Through this enchanting print, we are reminded not only of the cheetah's extraordinary beauty but also our duty to conserve these precious creatures for future generations. It serves as a testament to both human ingenuity in capturing nature's wonders on paper and our collective commitment towards preserving Earth's diverse wildlife heritage.
